ADVANCED UPRT

The aims of the course are to provide licenced pilots with the knowledge and understanding of physiological and psychological aspects of dynamic upsets in aeroplanes and how to cope with them, and to develop the necessary competence and resilience to be able to apply appropriate recovery techniques during aeroplane upsets.

REQUIREMENTS
The applicant must meet the following requirements:
To be older than 18 years;
Holding a licence and a current SEP rating
Possession of medical certificate relevant to the licence held.

DURATION
1 week

THEORETICAL TRAINING
7 hours of classrooms. Classrooms can be also performed by video conference.

FLIGHT TRAINING
3 hours of flight instruction
The training course has been developed by the adoption of modules for a total of a minimum of 3hrs of flight training which includes at least the following parts:

1. Exercise to demonstrate

the relationship between speed, attitude and AoA;
the effect of g-load on aeroplane performance, including stall events at different attitudes and airspeeds;
aerodynamic indications of a stall including buffeting, loss of control authority and inability to arrest a descent;
the physiological effects of different g- loads between -1 and 2.5G;
surprise and the startle effect;

2. Training in techniques to recover from

nose high at various bank angles;
nose low at various bank angles;
spiral dives;
stall events;
incipient or full spin;

3. Training to develop resilience and to employ strategies to mitigate the startle effect.

Review of common mistakes;
Situation analysis process.
